Mark Zuckerberg just released the first version of Threads, a text-sharing app developed by the Instagram team. Whether you're a creator or a casual contributor, Threads features a new separate space for real-time updates and public conversations. We are working to make Threads compatible with the open, interoperable social networks that we believe can shape the future of the web.
Billions of people around the world are connected through photos and videos on Instagram. Our vision for Threads is to extend what Instagram does best to text, creating a positive and creative space to express your ideas. Much like Instagram, Threads allows you to follow and connect with friends and creators with similar interests, including those you follow on Instagram and elsewhere. And you can leverage your existing suite of security and user controls.
Threads: Join the conversation on Instagram

Getting started with threads is easy.
Just log in with your Instagram account. Your Instagram username and verification are done, and you can optionally customize your profile specifically for your thread.
By default, users under the age of 16 (18 in some countries) are included in a private profile when participating in threads. You can choose to follow the same accounts on Instagram to find more people with the same interests as you. Key accessibility features currently available on Instagram, such as screen reader support and AI-generated image descriptions, are also enabled in Threads.
The Threads feed contains threads posted by people you follow, as well as featured content by new creators you haven't discovered yet. Posts can be up to 500 characters in length and can include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length. You can easily share a thread's post to your Instagram story or share it on another platform where you choose the post as a link.
